As a lover of music and heart-warming family dramas, I was incredibly charmed by this Scottish music drama. Jessie Buckley gives a stellar performance as a problematic wannabe-country singer from Glasgow and Julie Walters, of course, nails portraying her mother-constantly trying to make up for her daughter’s mistakes. Although it is well written and directed, the strongest aspect of the film is definitely the music and Jessie’s incredible performances. What a voice! I definitely recommend listening to “Glasgow (No Place Like Home)” if you haven’t already. It truly will not disappoint.
